Story

The village of Bolshaya Murta was founded on the Podyomnaya River in 1725. Apparently, the village began with two or three yards of "arable peasants."

Since 1854, Bolshaya Murta has been part of the Elovsky volost of the Krasnoyarsk district.

The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1959.

Bolshaya Murta is an urban-type settlement, the center of the Bolshemurtinsky district, located a few kilometers east of the Yenisei tract, on the Podyomnaya River, the left tributary of the Yenisei.

The distance to the regional center and the nearest railway station Krasnoyarsk is 110 km.


The village of Murtinskaya arose in 1725 as a Cossack settlement. The locals interpret the name as "Shemurta" - "Cheryomukhovaya" or after the name of the local merchant who lived here Murtai (or Murtazin). Both versions are conjectural. The population is 9.0 thousand people. Population density 3.7 people. for 1 sq. km.


Territory Bolshemurtinsky district began to be mastered in the 17th century between 1662 - 1680 (Yukseevo, Beregovaya Podyomnaya). // History of the Yenisei Territory: author G. XVIII century Yenisei tract, along which the Yenisei translators, retired soldiers, recruits and Russian songwriters were settled.

In the 30s of the eighteenth century. five villages arose, founded by immigrants from the Yenisei district: in addition to the villages of Murtinskaya, Kantatskaya and Malaya Kantatskaya, Bystraya, Mingulskaya. Most of the population were Cossacks and townspeople. The Posadskys lived in the villages of Pakuleva, Turanskaya, Ermakov Podёmny Priud, Yushkov and Kaygorodok Podporozhensky Priud.

Various sources give grounds to assert that until 1854 Bolshaya Murta was part of the Elovsky volost, located in the northwestern part of the Krasnoyarsk district. Most of the settlements are concentrated along the Yenisei tract, occupying 1/3 of the entire territory of the volost.


But as the road between Yeniseysk and Krasnoyarsk is being built, Bolshaya Murta becomes a link between them. In this regard, merchant shops, a tavern are opened, horses are being replaced by coachmen. The population is growing noticeably.

Several villages have already settled around Bolshaya Murta: Malaya Murta, Aitat, Maly Kantat, Bolshoi Kantat, 633 males and 513 females live.


In 1846 it was founded, and in 1850 the construction of the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church was completed with the money of parishioners and voluntary donors.

The influx of residents to Bolshaya Murta begins, it became especially large in the first years of the 20th century, when peasants from the central regions of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine moved in whole villages from Siberia. New settlements appear on the map of the district: Kazanka, then Verkh Kazanka, Beloe, Yasnaya Polyana, Vesyoloye, Lakino, Mezhovo, Mikhailovka, Rossiyka, Minsk, Krutoe, Anisimovka, Saratovka, Preobrazhenka, Listvyanka, Nikolskaya, Novonikolskaya Kochergina, Novgorodka, Entaul, Otradnaya , Silina, Buzunovo and others.

1905 - 1912 - construction of a district hospital with the money of the resettlement society in connection with the mass migration of the population from the Central regions of Russia to Siberia.



In 1913, Bolshaya Murta became an independent administrative unit and became the Bolshemurtinsky volost. The village already has a post and telegraph department, a state savings bank, a medical center, a station of bailiffs, police officers, and grain warehouses. The Bolshemurtinskaya fair, which took place in November, was considered especially popular.

In 1927, a new settlement appeared on the map of the region - Predivnoye on the right bank of the Yenisei. At the mouth of the Yudinka River, it was decided to build a shipyard for the construction of barges. In the winter they built barges, in the summer they launched them. With the beginning of the construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, new logging camps Mostovskoye, Krasnye Klyuchi, Yazaevka, Lugovskoye, Razdolnoye appeared.

From a provincial Siberian village, Bolshaya Murta turned into an industrial worker settlement of an urban type (1959, Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR). New microdistricts appeared with good, comfortable houses. The entire central part of the village and its streets were transformed, the roads became roads with concrete and asphalt pavement.

The main industrial enterprises are engaged in logging and timber processing. Agriculture specializes in the production of grain, milk, and meat.



The area is rich in creative people. In 1992, a collection of poems "Bilberry Berry" by local poet Alexander Matus was published. In 2000, collections of poems "Have pity on me, memory", "The land of my anxiety" by Alexander Zakharchenko were published, and a year later - a collection of poems by another local poet Gennady Zavadsky.
