Skiing

Cheget is the most popular place for those who cannot imagine life without it, because it is a concentration of the best special roads, which are not inferior in quality to European ones. It’s not for nothing that Cheget’s slopes are known to alpine skiers as one of the most difficult in the classification. There are fifteen of them, the elevation differences are from 2100 to 3050 meters. There are four lifts and three lines in total. And although the slopes are not equipped with snow cannons and are completely dependent on the weather, they seem to take care of themselves. This is evidenced by the mounds that form on steep areas, which settle overnight, providing conditions for a descent. On the diagrams you can see the designations of the routes: from easy to difficult. However, skiers claim that these designations are very arbitrary, and an easy route can turn out to be difficult. The mountain is also equipped with an observation deck with a cafe at an altitude of 2719 meters.

What does Cheget offer to vacationers?

As already noted, the slopes of this ski resort are quite steep and difficult. That is why it has become traditional to hold the annual Russian freeride championship here. The large number of breakwaters is not an obstacle for skiers. But for snowboarders they turn into a problem. However, there are also equipped springboards for them on Mount Cheget. Ski resort offers its vacationers and the new kind entertainment, which is called Heli-ski. It involves going down a hill that no one has ever gone down before. Those who want to are taken there by helicopter. By the way, in European countries this type of entertainment is prohibited, as it is considered dangerous to life and health. But European tourists themselves are attracted by Mount Cheget; the Elbrus region attracts them with a fabulous welcome, optimal prices and, of course, high-quality trails.

Complex "Polyana Cheget"

If you still decide to visit the Elbrus ski slopes, it’s worth learning a little about the hotels and resorts where you can stay. "Polyana Cheget" is a multifunctional complex that includes many hotels, tourist centers, shops and a market. In the very center of the complex there are hotels named “Cheget” and “Ozone”, they are located on the territory of a pine forest, and just a few meters away there are cable lines.

The first stage will take vacationers to an altitude of 2720 meters to the “Ai” cafe. The second goes up to 3050 meters, where it meets the third stage, presented in the form of a small “Glade of Cheget”, offering to spend the evening in catering places. Here a large number of cafes, bars, restaurants with various topics and kitchen. Everyone will find entertainment to their liking after a great day of relaxation in the fresh air.

Tourists should definitely visit Gud Mountain - from its top there is a magnificent view of the Elbrus region, which is simply breathtaking. The springs of Djily-Su will not leave skiers indifferent. Here two powerful springs of mineral water come out, and nearby there are many more small ones. The springs have mineral water of different composition, which means that its healing effect is not the same everywhere. You can drink water and take baths at the springs, so people come here not only for relaxation, but also for health purposes. Above the sources of Djily-Su you can look at a waterfall, the height of which is more than thirty meters, and a little lower downstream there is another one, but smaller. But the Balyk-Su River, which merges with the source described above, has a two-cascade waterfall. At an altitude of 2900 meters in the mountains there is a plane with an area of at least 400 thousand meters, called the “German airfield”. Local residents claim that German planes landed here during the Second World War, but this version has not been documented. Another attraction is the so-called “stone mushrooms” formed as a result of exotic erosion. They are located at an altitude of 3200 meters.
