Information has appeared about a new premium tank for virtual tankers - the American Tier 8 tank M56 Scorpion. In this article you will find a little history, leaked performance characteristics and later a couple of screenshots.

Story

The M56 was created in 1948-1953 and mass-produced from 1953 to 1959 as part of an order for a new mobile self-propelled anti-tank gun, which could be dropped from a parachute during the initial stages of an army landing operation and has the firepower of a tank gun. Two examples of such a car, under the designation T101, were built by the Cadillac Motor Car Division, from the General Motors Corporation. In 1953, these vehicles entered military testing. As a result, in 1955 the M56, also referred to as the "Scorpion", was adopted by US Army airborne combat teams, primarily in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. The M56 could be transported by a number of then-current transport aircraft and gliders, and could also be dropped by parachute.

The M56 body was riveted, made of aluminum (to save weight); the engine and gear are in front, the gun is in the center, and the crew compartment is in the back. The engine worked on a transmission with one rear and two forward gears manufactured by the Ellison company (a division of General Motors), then the voltage was supplied to the drives on both sides of the car. The suspension is torsion bar; the unarmored chassis of the M76 floating cargo transporter was used, which had four running wheels on each side, a guide roller at the rear and a drive sprocket at the front; there were no tension rollers. Each caterpillar consisted of two belts made of rubberized fabric and reinforced with steel cables. The belts are connected to each other by stamped steel crossbars with rubber cushions. The main components and assemblies of the machine were sealed, and the electrical wiring was made waterproof.

The gun was mounted on a small carriage on top, the 90-mm M54 gun had a muzzle brake, a vertical wedge breech and a gun shield. Its manual drive made it possible to change the vertical angle of guidance from -10 to +15° (example in the picture), and the horizontal angle - by 30° to the right and left. To aim the cannon at the target when firing direct fire, an optical sight with variable magnification was used, and when firing from closed positions, appropriate sighting devices were used. A pair of cylinders of hydraulic recoil devices were attached to the breech of the gun, on top. The ballistic data was consistent with the gun of the M48 Patton III tank. The range of actual fire was 1820 meters. The commander and loader were located to the left of the gun, and the driver to the right. The ammunition was transported directly in the vehicle and placed in a separate waterproof aluminum container, and included 29 unitary projectiles, including armor-piercing tracer, cumulative tracer, high-explosive, high-explosive tracer, and high-explosive armor-piercing.

The main drawback of the gun, which had much greater firepower than the M41 light tank with its 76 mm gun, was that the chassis was too light. As a result, after firing a 90 mm cannon, the vehicle would often jump back several feet, and the target would no longer be visible due to the cloud of dust raised by the muzzle flash.

Another drawback was the complete lack of armor protection for the vehicle's crew, apart from a small gun shield. The driver sat behind the wheel to the left of the gun, and behind him was a shooter equipped with a sight with x4.1 or x8 magnification. To the right of the driver's seat there was a box with a walkie-talkie, on which the commander sat. The other two less fortunate crew members were placed on the starboard side, next to the exhaust pipe.

The tank was equipped with a gasoline 151-kilowatt six-cylinder 205 hp. an air-cooled Continental engine with an opposing cylinder arrangement and a direct fuel injection system, which provided a maximum speed of up to 50 km/h with a power reserve of 225 km. The power transmission is a “Cross Drive” hydromechanical transmission, which was attached to the engine and formed one unit with it. The chassis was silent, light and provided low specific ground pressure, which made it possible to overcome muddy, sandy, swampy and snowy soil. To drive a car at night, night vision binoculars were used, which are worn on the driver's helmet.

The M56 was withdrawn from service in 1960 due to adoption light tank M551 Sheridan. Small numbers of M56s were supplied to Spain and Morocco, and they were also used by the US Army in Vietnam, where they were used primarily for fire support.

Everyone appreciates the time of day and welcome to the site! Today we will talk about a new vehicle that should soon go on sale, a premium German tank destroyer of the eighth level and this is the Rheinmetall Skorpion guide.

We already have one scorpion in the game, this is the American tank of the seventh level M56 Scorpion, but these vehicles have practically nothing in common and looking ahead I will say that the German promises to be a very strong machine. Now we will analyze Rhm in detail. Skorpion characteristics and you can form your own opinion about this unit.

Performance characteristics of Rheinmetall Skorpion G

To begin with, we have a small margin of safety, even by the standards of our classmates, and far from the best basic overview, as for a level eight PT.

In terms of survivability, the tank does not stand out with any good parameters; the Rheinmetall Skorpion TTX armor is very weak. As you can see on the collage model, the thickest place is the forehead of the hull. However, even here the armor is so weak that it is almost impossible to catch a rebound. The most harmless guns are killing us, and landmines are 99% likely to cause full damage. In addition, we have a rather large silhouette and they will easily penetrate us into any projection, that is, we need to play with extreme caution.

But the mobility characteristics are very pleasing, because Rhm. Skorpion WoT has excellent maximum speed and good power density, which makes this car very mobile and dynamic. Perhaps the chassis turning speed will be somewhat lacking, but the presence of a turret compensates for this.

By the way, to make it easier for you, the dimensions of the Rheinmetall Skorpion tank can be compared with the Jagdpanther II, which means its camouflage coefficient will be approximately the same.

gun

Another strong point of the vehicle, in addition to mobility, can be called weapons. We have on board exactly the same cannon as the Jagdpanther II or the Rhm.-Borsig Waffenträger, the only difference is in the rate of fire parameters.

So, the Rheinmetall Skorpion G gun has excellent one-time damage and very good armor penetration performance with a basic projectile, especially considering that we have a premium vehicle in our hands. We easily penetrate almost everyone, but since we were not given a preferential level of battles, it is better to carry about 10 gold shells with us for especially thick tens.

The rate of fire of our gun is also decent, thanks to which the DPM is approximately 2410 units, not a record figure for a tank destroyer, but quite impressive.

In terms of accuracy, everything is good again. German tank Rhm. Skorpion World of Tanks is endowed with good dispersion, comfortable aiming time, and even stabilization is fine.

Another very important point is that the Rheinmetall Skorpion tank destroyer does not have very good gun declination angles, and if you aim at the enemy while facing him with the stern, the tilt degree is reduced to -3. But there is also a bright side to the coin, there is no discomfort with horizontal aiming angles, because we were equipped with a turret that rotates 360 degrees.

Advantages and disadvantages

As you can see, the car really promises to be not only interesting, but also really strong, so even in a battle against tenth levels, you will not feel deprived. To make it easier for you to navigate the strong and weaknesses Rhm. Skorpion WoT, let's break them down point by point.
Pros:
Excellent mobility and dynamics;
Powerful alphastrike;
High armor penetration rates;
The presence of a rotating tower.
Minuses:
Lack of armor;
Poor review;
Not very comfortable UVNs;
Full level of combat.

Equipment for Rhm. Skorpion

In order to make playing this German more comfortable, it is important for us to improve the damage dealt per minute, because this parameter is one of the most important in our car and to increase accuracy. Thus, the following equipment is installed on Rheinmetall Skorpion:
1. – the very module that will give the best boost to DPM is vital for us.
2. is another great option that allows for increased accuracy through faster convergence.
3. - although we have a good overview, it wouldn’t hurt to increase it; for a moving unit, this choice is just right.

If you prefer to play passively, and prefer to fire from the bushes on the third or fourth line rather than maneuver and change positions frequently, you can take . This module will further challenge our mediocre vision, but only works when you are not moving, so it dictates your playstyle.

Crew training

We have 4 crew members at our disposal and choosing a skill for each of them is a very important moment. If you make a mistake once, you will have to spend a lot of time and effort on retraining. To prevent this from happening, we will now look at which perks are best to learn with Rheinmetall Skorpion:
Commander (loader) – , , , .
Gunner – , , , .
Driver mechanic - , , , .
Radio operator - , , , .

Equipment for Rheinmetall Skorpion

The situation with consumables is standard. We have a premium car at our disposal, and if you want to use it purely for farming, and you don’t have a large supply of silver, you can carry , , . But a more reliable choice, which will save you more than once, would be to take equipment for Rheinmetall Skorpion in the form , , , where the last option can be replaced with .

Rhm game tactics. Skorpion G

The main thing to remember when playing with this unit is that it is completely devoid of armor. Otherwise, we have excellent weapons, excellent mobility, a rotating turret, etc., all advantages must be taken advantage of.

Thus, at Rheinmetall Skorpion tactics fighting is to stick to the second line. You can be the first to arrive at a position, take the most advantageous place and fire at the enemy even at the stage of his travel.

However, do not forget that it is dangerous to move forward too much on the Rhm .Skorpion WoT tank destroyer and it is advisable to take a position so that you are exposed to light as little as possible, can hide or drive away in case of danger, and artillery cannot attack you.

At the same time, never stand in one place for too long. Rheinmetall Skorpion tank World of Tanks is capable of moving very quickly, changing flanks and attack directions. As soon as your position has lost its relevance or, looking at the map, you see that help is needed somewhere, you should not hesitate; the outcome of the battle may well depend on your actions.

As for the question “Is Rheinmetall Skorpion worth buying or not?” I would say it’s worth it, since this tank destroyer is practically in no way inferior to regular vehicles of its level, for a premium this is a very powerful argument.

This is a German anti-tank self-propelled gun artillery installation VIII level.

On this page there is a small guide for Rheinmetall Skorpion g. At the moment, one of the best premium tanks, and tank destroyers at its level. It appeared in the game relatively recently and immediately aroused considerable interest among tankers. The vehicle is very similar to its pumpable counterpart - the Rheinmetall-Borsig Waffentrager with a standard gun, but has its own unique features.

7 reasons to buy Rheinmetall Skorpion G:

  1. Unique camouflage.
  2. The alpha strike of the installed gun is 490 units per shot, penetration by 246 mm armor-piercing shells and 311 mm sub-caliber shells.
  3. Excellent accuracy, dispersion per 100 meters is 0.3 and aiming time is 2.1 seconds (about 5 rounds per minute).
  4. Good specific power - 17 hp. per ton.
  5. A tower that helps in battle on different maps.
  6. Ideal profitability - you can earn up to 100,000 credits per battle.
  7. Not a bad speed - up to 60 km/h forward and 20 km/h back.

The elevation angles on the Scorpio are not the best, 7 degrees down. There is no point in talking about armor, just a couple of facts - maximum armor is 30 mm. On this technique we are a classic landmine receiver. The disadvantage is also the visibility, 360 meters, but you can increase this value by training the crew, using optics and handing a bar of dark chocolate to your guys, or girls.

Pros:

+ good power density, good speed;
+ a weapon with good armor penetration and one-time damage;
+ good accuracy;
+ armored cabin with full rotation;
+ All-season camouflage set by default.

Minuses:

- lack of armor as such;
- open armored cabin;
- mediocre rate of fire;
- mediocre ammunition size;
- mediocre UVN;
- disgusting agility of the tower and the ship itself;
- large size and high visibility;
- mediocre gun stabilization.

Rheinmetall Skorpion g is a farm tank that any World of Tanks player can master.

Good luck on the battlefields!
